Visit & Pick Up Policy

Visiting Policy for Sunlit African Greys

We often receive inquiries from individuals eager to “take a look” at or interact with our African Grey parrots before deciding to place a deposit or make a purchase. Unfortunately, the answer to this request is NO.

We appreciate your understanding regarding this policy. You are one of many families interested in meeting our adorable African Grey parrots. However, accommodating numerous visitors daily would consume significant time and raise concerns about the potential introduction of viruses or parasites into our home.

It’s important to emphasize that our African Grey parrots are not just pets for sale; they are cherished members of our family, raised alongside our children in a nurturing environment.

For the well-being of our parrots and to maintain our privacy, we conduct meetings exclusively with families who have placed a deposit or scheduled a Meet & Greet appointment.

Why Is There a Strict Visitation Policy for Sunlit African Greys?

The health of our parrots is our top priority, which is why we implement this strict policy. Until our African Grey parrots receive all their necessary vaccinations—typically completed by the time they are 14 weeks old—they are vulnerable to diseases that can be unknowingly transferred via shoes or clothing.

Regrettably, many breeders have experienced devastating losses of entire flocks due to diseases introduced into their homes. It’s crucial to understand that even without physical contact, disease transmission can occur. Contaminants from your shoes or clothing may linger on surfaces, making their way to the mother bird, who can then inadvertently pass these germs to her chicks.

When our parrots are reserved, we strive to protect them. Would you feel comfortable knowing that multiple families were allowed to visit and interact with the flock, placing their health at risk?

Our goal is to raise and socialize our parrots in a safe environment, ensuring they face minimal risks of illness or injury. This approach allows us to deliver healthy and happy parrots to the families waiting to welcome them into their homes.

Moreover, this policy safeguards our personal space. Our home is a sanctuary, not a storefront open to the public, and we wish to preserve this atmosphere that we hold dear.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Thank you for respecting our policies.

Warm Regards,
Sunlit African Greys
